About Us

Community Based

Clean Forest Society is a grassroots initiative founded by Nova Scotians passionate about protecting our forests, wildlife, and communities 🌲. We've identified a pressing issue: dead debris buildup in high fire-risk areas, and we're taking action. As a new organization, we're proud of the connections we've made so far, paving the way for fire prevention efforts 🚒.

We believe our woodlands, wildlife, and communities are interconnected, and we're committed to reducing fallen timber and fire hazards in our local areas 🌳. Join us in our mission to make a difference and promote a safer, more sustainable Nova Scotia 💪

Removing fuel sources is a key strategy in preventing wildfires 🔥. Dead vegetation, branches, and debris can quickly ignite and spread flames, but by clearing these materials, we can significantly reduce the risk of wildfires spreading. It's a simple yet effective way to protect our communities and forests 🌲.

Creating fire breaks is a crucial step in wildfire prevention 🔥. By clearing debris and clutter, we can establish natural barriers that contain or slow the spread of wildfires, giving firefighters a chance to respond and communities time to evacuate 🌲. It's a proactive approach to protecting our homes and forests 💪.

Promoting healthy forest ecosystems is a win-win for our environment 🌳. Regular forest cleaning helps maintain balanced ecosystems, reducing the risk of devastating wildfires and fostering biodiversity 🐝. By keeping our forests healthy, we're protecting wildlife habitats and supporting the natural beauty of Nova Scotia 💚.

How we plan to do it: When we plan to do it:

  • Starting in our own backyards and working outward, we'll create a wave of firesmart practices that spread throughout our communities.

  • With sleds and chainsaws, we'll tackle the toughest debris and clear the way for safer forests. It's hard work, but it's effective, and we're proud to be rolling up our sleeves for our communities 🌲💪.

  • We're building relationships with landowners, conservationists, and donors to pinpoint high-priority areas for fire mitigation. By working together, we can maximize our impact and protect Nova Scotia's natural beauty 🌳.

  • Using ATVs and trail cutting to reach remote areas, ensuring our fire mitigation efforts cover all grounds, even the hard-to-access spots 🌲.

  • Clean Forest Society has already begun efforts as of Spring 2026.
